How are the Salons Run?

Each time we throw out real world social issues. Participants are encouraged to form cross-disciplinary groups and brainstorm an innovative solution within 10-15 minutes. All teams then make a quick 30 second pitch. The most innovative solutions win a prize. Salons are also held in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The idea is to encourage us to connect with people outside of our own industries and think outside the box. It’s time to think about social innovation in a fun and creative way! Our pilot salons last month in Shanghai, Taipei, and Hong Kong were a success. We brainstormed innovative solutions on how to provide long-term care for elderly homes and how to provide employment for large numbers of unskilled workers. Results? Everything from using migrant workers to recycle and create green products to unifying volunteers and elderly people with pet care.
